Building Energy Efficiency Standards Enforcement

Why is it important to comply with the Standards?

Compliance with the Standards is essential in helping California achieve its energy reduction goals. Standards compliant construction also helps ensure that California's buildings are comfortable and safe, and that energy bills are kept low.

What can you do to make sure you are in compliance?

The Commission helps homeowners and building professionals comply with the Standards by providing the Energy Standards Hotline, the Online Resource Center and the Blueprint Newsletter. Please also visit the External Educational Resources page to find links to other tools that can assist you.

How do you report noncompliance concerns?

The Energy Commission works closely with the Contractors State License Board and other regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with the Commission's regulations and standards. To report a contractor who is building without a permit, please fill out and submit a Building Permit Violation Referral Form.
